Frequently asked questions
Which protocols does SCPilot support?
SFTP over SSH, which practically every Linux and macOS server offers. That is what most people mean by “SCP” today.
How do I sign in with my SSH key?
Choose Import from SSH Config… in the sites window, or pick your key file (for example ~/.ssh/id_ed25519) for a site. SCPilot can also create a new key and install it on the server for you: Session → Install Public Key on Server…
Why does SCPilot ask for access to my home folder?
Mac App Store apps run in a sandbox and only see the folders you choose. Choose your home folder once to browse your files and read ~/.ssh. The permission stays until you remove SCPilot.
The password isn't passed to Terminal.
For security, macOS doesn't let App Store apps type into other apps. With password login, SCPilot copies the password to the clipboard for 30 seconds – paste it with ⌘V. Key login needs no password at all.
Does SCPilot collect any data?
No. See the privacy policy.
